Do You Like to Help?

If you have the gift of "helps" or hospitality, then you are the person Covenant Point Church's Usher's Ministry is seeking. Ushers provide a range of assistance in ordering our Celebrations of Praise and Worship? Arriving early to prepare the sanctuary for service; greeting church family and friends; and passing out bulletins are just a few of an Usher's roles. Ushers are an important ministry in demonstrating the love of God within "the Point." If you know that you would love to be an Usher, please contact Sis. Irene Gray.

Keeping Divine Balance

The Married Couples Ministry has begun planning for the 2008 Couples Retreat, and we are looking forward to you joining us! Mark your calendars for October 10-12, 2008.  This year's retreat will be held at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia.  Watch for more details to come in the weeks ahead.

Straight Talk About Marriage

"The Point's" sanctuary was transformed into a theater on Saturday, March 8, as married couples and singles watched the Tyler Perry movie, "Why Did I Get  Married?" Following the screening, there was a lively discussion about why people get married, and why the Bible says   persons should (or should not) marry. The movie sparked laughter, tears, and commentary, but it was also a starting point for talking about biblical  principles of marriage, including the importance of communication and honesty. Thank you to Bro. Earl and Sis. Wanda Wyatt for their continued commitment to engaging married couples, and singles, to learn about what God says about the institution of  marriage.

  Revival 2008

Tell your family and friends, neighbors and co-workers, church-goers and future church-goers, "the Point" is having its Resurrection Revival 2008. From     Tuesday, March 25 - Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. nightly, Bishop  Kenneth E. Coles, Pastor of the Lion of Judah Praise Temple, will       declare God's Word. Bishop Coles is no stranger to the Covenant Point Church family. Each year, he comes with a    powerful and relevant Word. This year,  on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the preached Word of God will be delivered but on Thursday night, a Healing and Anointing service will take place. Saints, come ready to set the atmosphere each evening for a awesome anointed move of God. See you there!

Communications Ministry Opportunity Available

Since PowerPoint was introduced as a part of "the Point's" new worship format in January of this year, it has added a new dimension to our celebration of praise and worship.  In the last few months, we have worked hard to transition PowerPoint presentations seamlessly into worship. We are ushering in a new season at "the Point" and the Communications Ministry needs your help in this area of God's kingdom.  Training is available for all  willing volunteers. Help us to keep PowerPoint a part of the worship experience at "the Point." See Sis. Crystal Hill to express your interest in serving on the Power Point team.

224th Annual Conference

This year, the Gaylord Hotel and Conference Center's "National Harbor" will be the gathering place for the Baltimore Washington Annual Conference. Located in "our backyard" Oxon Hill, MD and on the Potomac River, the National Harbor will host nearly 2,000 people who will assemble to conduct the business of our conference. The conference's theme is "Serving Like Christ" and it promises to be a holy time of discerning God's direction in creating "at least 600 Acts 2 churches by 2012." The conference dates are Thursday, May 22 - Saturday, May 24, 2008.

 Keeping It Clean...

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is currently seeking an interested person who is willing to keep God's House, "the Point," neat and clean. The salary is $75.00 per week. Whether it's   preaching the Word or straightening up the church, ministry comes in many wonderful forms. If you feel called to served God as the part-time custodian, please contact Sis. Tia Cunningham, SPRC Chairperson, through the church office at 301-638-3604. Covenant Point Church is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Lenten, A Season of HOPE

With the creation of its HOPE Fund, the Baltimore-Washington Conference is building a bridge of opportunity. This endeavor to raise $1 million in life-transforming funds by the annual conference session in May will bring a tangible message of HOPE to those    suffering in the world. There has been great success conference-wide in this   endeavor; however, we as a congregation need to do our part. Covenant Point Church pledged to give a total of $3,600.  This amount was based on a total of $30 per worshiper (Bishop's Circle-level giving).  We are approximately one-third of the way to our goal.

The Bishop is asking all of the churches in the Baltimore-Washington Conference take up the cause of HOPE.  It is our goal to present to the conference a check for the remaining balance of $3,600 by the end of March 2008.

To designate your amount of giving, write "HOPE" on your offertory envelope.  HOPE LIVES AS WE GIVE! (See the conference website: http://beta.bwcumc.org/node/2156  to read the full version of this article.)
